Welcome to our ACSSQ DP/APA Inc. website. The website’s primary purpose is to present information on the DP/APA Association’s Annual conference, but the intention is to build on this and create resources and links you may find useful in your professional life over the coming months.
Our 2016 Conference’s theme this year is “Innovation, Resilience and Growth”. These three areas capture some of the temporary influences and movements in education. The demand on schools to be innovative in the delivery of its curriculum and pastoral care, to build and grow resilience in our students (and perhaps ourselves) and the capacity to grow and develop into schools of the 21st century are all areas that we believe are pertinent in our educational climate. Our committee has worked hard to secure speakers who will challenge our way of thinking and operating in our communities and in turn, how we, in our respective roles, can engage the minds of our students in their learning and engagement with the world in the context of our Catholic faith and tradition.
The Mantra Mooloolaba continues to serve as a wonderful venue for our conference. It is certainly an ideal location to listen to engaging speakers and to renew old and establish new collegial relationships with like-minded colleagues across the state. At the same time, it is important to allow yourself some personal recharging of the batteries prior to the hectic-ness of the end of Term 3. It is our intention that the 2016 Conference satisfies these objectives for you.
Please take the time to read the biographies of our speakers and you will see that we have invited speakers across a range of different dimensions, whether that be on teaching and learning, spiritual, legal, Social Emotional (those of our students and well our own) or indeed the broader educational landscapes of our state and nation.
Helping to mentor and guide those who hold aspirations of becoming a DP/AP is an important aspect to our role. I would encourage delegates to recommend the one day Aspiring Leaders visit to their Middle Leaders so that they may begin to establish their professional networks and gain a deeper insight and understanding into senior leadership.
The webpage will give further information on our Conference Program and registration details. On behalf of the organising committee, may I extend a very warm welcome to you and we look forward to greeting you at Mooloolaba in August.
